IR-sense – Infrared Spectroscopy for In-Situ Detection of PFAS in Aquatic Environments Using a Submersible Sensing Platform

Video

Description

Immersible FTIR sensor system for real-time detection of PFAS and microplastics in water bodies. It combines an automatic sample concentration module and precision optical design to achieve laboratory-level accuracy in the field.

Achievable results

Develop and validate a prototype portable sensor (TRL 3-4), improve sensitivity and reliability, test the system in natural and industrial waters.

Benefit

Provides faster and more accurate monitoring of water quality, helping to prevent pollution, protect ecosystems and improve drinking water safety in line with EU environmental objectives.

Allocated funding

EUR 200 000 from 01.10.2025.
