It is important for every researcher to understand how to protect their intellectual property and to be aware of how to assess the patentability of an invention, which can be an important step towards commercialising an idea. We therefore invite researchers to participate in a 2-day workshop on Intellectual Property - from idea to patent and beyond on 9 and 10 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar will cover a wide range of IP issues, from the seemingly simpler questions of \"what is IP\" to how to reconcile your patenting strategy with the ever-changing business environment. The first day of the seminar will cover the nature of authorship, the contractual relationship between the author and the employer, types of intellectual property and typical patenting strategies. The second day of the seminar will cover each step of patenting in more detail, from the drafting, filing and prosecution of a patent application to the grant and maintenance of the patent. The seminar will also cover topics related to the commercialisation of intellectual property - freedom to operate analysis, valuation, licensing and sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
