Entrepreneurs, industry representatives, investors, and policymakers will have the opportunity to view nearly 40 Latvian innovation prototypes developed with the platform's support. Registration for the conference is open to all interested individuals. <a href=\"https:\/\/biophot.lv\/en\/event\/biophot-conference-2026\/\"><strong>on the platform's website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference will evaluate the achievements of the innovation projects supported by the platform and future development opportunities. The program includes short presentations by all 66 research teams supported by \u201cBioPhoT,\u201d highlighting the results of projects in biomedicine and pharmacy, photonics and smart materials, engineering and medical technologies to date, as well as future development and cooperation opportunities. The exhibition will showcase technology prototypes developed by the program teams, along with their practical application and development potential.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference will discuss how to transform scientific excellence into innovations capable of competing in the global market \u2013 technology commercialization opportunities, challenges, and prerequisites for successful innovation development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Programme<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/biophot.lv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/PROGRAMME.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Program embed.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-68161147-dd48-491b-a321-b557653d8d0c\" href=\"https:\/\/biophot.lv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/PROGRAMME.pdf\">Program<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/biophot.lv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/PROGRAMME.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-68161147-dd48-491b-a321-b557653d8d0c\">Download at<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The working language of the conference will be English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In panel discussions, participants will evaluate the achievements and accumulated experience of \u201cBioPhoT,\u201d as well as explore ways to strengthen the cooperation between science and industry in Latvia. The opportunities for cooperation between science and business will be discussed by L\u012bga Br\u016bni\u0146a, founder of \u201cLabrains\u201d; M\u0101ris B\u016bmanis, board member and head of the development and research sector at AS \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d; Dmitrijs Stepanovs, Vice Dean for Science and Innovation at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of Riga Technical University (RTU) and head of the RTU BioPhoT project; El\u012bza L\u012bga L\u012bdaka, senior expert at the Enterprise Competitiveness Department of the Ministry of Economics; and Ain\u0101rs Ozols, technical director of \u201cBaltic Photonics.\u201d The discussion will be moderated by Agnese O\u013c\u0161evska, Director of the Innovation Centre of Riga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second panel discussion will be dedicated to the path of new technologies from the laboratory to the market, and it will be moderated by Lauma Mui\u017eniece, Director of the RTU Grant Office. Experience and knowledge will be shared by Andris Anspoks, Director of the Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Latvia, and leading researcher Kaspars Pud\u017es, RTU Professor Kristaps K\u013cavi\u0146\u0161, as well as physician, entrepreneur, and business growth consultant Marko R\u012bdi (<em>Marco R\u00fcedi<\/em>, Switzerland).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn her presentation \u201dWhat happens after research? The path of \u201cBioPhoT\u201c from technology to market\u201d, L\u012bva P\u0113rkone, Associate Partner at \u201dCivitta\", will focus on technology development after the research phase and the path to its commercial use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2025, 66 Latvian innovation projects have been developed within the framework of the \u201cBioPhoT\u201d platform, with 12.7 million euros invested in their development so far. The platform aims to develop the technologies to the commercialization phase by 2032.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>By BioPhoT<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biomedicine and photonics innovation platform \u201cBioPhoT\u201d (\u201cBiomedicine and Photonics Research Platform for the Creation of Innovative Products\u201d) provides scientists with support in the development of innovative technologies and the formulation of commercialization strategies, addressing intellectual property issues, and searching for potential industry partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLed by the \u201dBioPhoT\u201c National Research and Innovation Institute, the project is implemented by the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Latvia, Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia, Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment \u201dBIOR\", Riga Stradin\u0161 University, and Riga Technical University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Project No. IVPP-EM-Inov\u0101cija-2024\/1-0002 \u201cBiomedical and Photonics Research Platform for the Creation of Innovative Products (BioPhoT)\u201d is implemented within the framework of the long-term state research programme \u201cInnovation Fund \u2013 Long-Term Research Programme\u201d, funded by the Ministry of Economics.<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>29. oktobr\u012b Latvijas Universit\u0101tes (LU) Zin\u0101t\u0146u m\u0101j\u0101 notiks ikgad\u0113j\u0101 \u201cBioPhoT\u201d konference.
