Description

A physics-based algorithm to extend the lifetime of lithium-ion battery cells by improving their operating temperature. To determine these optimal conditions for reducing degradation, the project is testing 18650 Li-Ion battery cells over a wide range of temperatures.

Achievable results

Achieve 10-20 % lifetime extension of lithium-ion batteries by developing an algorithm for precise regulation of the internal temperature of the batteries.

Benefit

Promotes more sustainable energy storage by reducing battery degradation, costs and waste.
