“An intensive business development week was held within the framework of ”BioPhoT," during which more than 25 research teams worked purposefully on advancing their projects to the next stage of development.
The sessions were led by Dr. Marco Rüedi, an entrepreneur and life sciences business development mentor at the Swiss innovation agency “Innosuisse.” Under his guidance, teams participated in both individual mentoring sessions and thematic workshops, where they received direct, practical, and constructive feedback. This process allowed each team not only to refine their project's value proposition but also to more clearly define an action plan for the next four months.
The program was structured by day, with each day dedicated to a specific theme and group of participants. This approach ensured in-depth and personalized work with each team, while maintaining high intensity and a focus on results. Participants particularly appreciated this format, emphasizing that similar workshops would be valuable to organize regularly and expand into other areas.
Marco Rüedi, in turn, appreciated both the quality of the ideas and the team's engagement in the discussions. He emphasized that the ability to step outside one's comfort zone is often crucial for projects to gain visibility among investors and in the industry.
Within the week, an informal networking event also took place on the evening of April 16th at StartUp House Riga, where Marco Rüedi shared his insights on working with Latvian researchers and innovation potential. Startup founder Andrii Shekhirev also joined the discussion, sparking a conversation about industry development prospects in Latvia. At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to continue their conversations individually, discussing topics relevant to them in depth and forming new collaborative contacts.
This week once again confirmed that Latvian researchers have both the knowledge and the motivation to develop their projects to the next level. International experience and practical support are particularly important in this process, helping to structure the development path and accelerate the go-to-market progression.
The next meeting with Marco Rüedi is already planned for August of this year, continuing the work started on project development and strengthening international competitiveness.
