Description
Artificial oxygen carriers have been researched for decades as a potential alternative to donor blood. They could play a significant role in disaster response, in remote areas with limited blood availability, and in veterinary care.
This BioPhot project SHOC (Stabilized Hemoglobin-based Oxygen Carriers) aims to improve the pharmacokinetic properties of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers by prolonging their circulation time in the bloodstream. Through advanced polymer surface engineering approaches, we strive to enhance their stability and therapeutic potential.
The Achievable Results
Develop advanced hemoglobin-based artificial oxygen carriers with extended circulation time and enhanced stability using advanced polymer surface engineering approaches.
The Anticipated Benefit
Provide a safer and more accessible alternative to donor blood, especially in emergency situations, remote regions, and veterinary medicine.
