Description

The next step in improving augmented reality glasses optics is the fabrication of metal grid polarizers directly onto the optical elements. Prototypes will be fabricated using both electron beam lithography and holographic interference techniques as part of the project.

The Achievable Results

The goal is to select the best technology for manufacturing a full-size 52×38 mm element on plastic and freeform substrates for augmented reality glasses produced by Lightspace Technologies. The company has shown interest in rapid prototyping services and the supply of such polarizers for use in their latest dual-application product.

The Anticipated Benefit

The method for manufacturing the selected metal grid polarizer will reduce the production costs of augmented reality glasses. This, in turn, will make this high-level professional product more accessible to a wider range of users.

The Allocated Funding

190,000 EUR on 03/01/2026.
