A conversation with BioPhoT researcher Rihards Rusks

Rihards Ruska is a PhD student at the University of Latvia (UL), is working on his PhD thesis on applications of luminescent nanomaterials in biosensors at the Institute of Solid State Physics, and is “BioPhoT project ”Bioactive Luminescent Coatings for Antimicrobial Protection“ in the team.

He recently received the Latvian Academy of Sciences' Arthurs Balklavs Award for Science Popularisation. The Latvian Young Scientists' Association (LJSA) invited R. Rusks for a talk - about his path in physics, his research on light-emitting nanoparticles and their applications in medicine and agriculture, as well as about science communication, entrepreneurship and the importance of cooperation in science.
